I think I will begin this with the amazing deals we got from AirTran Airways for plane tickets to Boston- for Beans (as they say)! When a ticket is only $39 one way, you can def. just go for a day of amazing shopping!
We started our shopping excursion in the heart of the city- The Shops of Prudential. My favorite stores were Arden B. & Saks Fifth Avenue- of course! Who doesn't like being surronded by every designer purse imaginable. It seemed, after miles of stores, you take a lovely inside bridge across to the Copley Place to find yourself engufled in 3 levels of even more amazing shopping! Get lost in these amazing stores:

Make sure for lunch you also hit up Legal Sea Foods-because you can't go to MA without chowing down on some ocean favorites!

Shop for Quality! PLEASE!

A HUGE sad face to EXPRESS. I used to work at EXPRESS so I am completely obsessed with their clothes and sense of fashion- way to go Designers! However... I bought this sweater for about $45 bucks! I loved it until it started to shread into pieces where the silver stiching met the blue fabric- I swear I only wore it ONCE! So, the lesson of the day, make sure you don't spend 50 bucks for a poorly made sweater just because you like it! Or, JUST KEEP ALL YOUR RECEIPTS AND TAGS!

Skinny Jeans! Huh?

The new trend for back to school/college is Skinny Jeans. These are great if you want to make your legs look long and thin. It is hard to believe that these things are back in style, I remember wearing them as a kid with my multi-colored slouch socks. These great pair can be found at Saks Fifth Avenue for about $185. The Gap also has a few great varities for much cheaper!

This post is dedicated to the website that I designed this past summer for my boyfriend's dad. The website promotes his Excavation Company in Stowe, VT- Dale E. Percy Inc. However because the website is new we are having trouble getting known on Google! Maybe this will help out a little!

This past Friday was the annual BLACK FRIDAY (aka The Biggest Shopping Day of the Year)! I was out there with all the other shoppers looking for the best bargins of the Holiday Season! However from an article posted the day after in the NYTimes, retailers seem worried about sales this holiday season. They think the high gas prices and heating costs are going to have a negative effect on how much money everyone is going to be willing to spend.

Cynthia Nellis from About.com, gives us some simple tips to make this trend easy to pull off. She says, "Start off with your straightest legged jeans, tuck your jeans first into knee-high socks, then just slip your boots over your socks!" It's super easy!

Jewelry usually isn't a trend that changes drastically from season to season. However lately jewelry has taken a huge leap into the Fall/Winter season. All in all, silver is not so flashy anymore. Taking it's place is gold, bronze, and copper! Jewel tones are trendy, and any color you could see being made into velvet. Long necklaces are always a good way to go, don't be afraid to layer. Vintage styles are simple things that shouldn't be overlooked. Check out thrift stores and antique stores for original accessories that no one else will have!

I came across this Co. (which I think I already knew about from publicity here at UD) in an e-mail from our business department. The Co. seems to be run by a few students/alumni from UD. Their website, College Fashions Co. was not completed yet so I really didn't get a lot of information about what they actually do. I'm sure someone can comment about this company, according to their website they were nominated for Fortune Magazine's Small Business of the Year Award in 2005!

I would have to admit that I do not use color to my advantage when picking out an outfit. I am very traditional and wear a lot of black, grey, white, and green. I don't know why... I just always tend to go towards them... I mean I own about 20 black tank tops. You just can't go wrong! I found an article written by a guy named Rick Valens called Fashion Tips: Express Yourself With Colors. Here are a few tips he suggests about colored clothing!

White: Worn well with most colors, considered summery, associated with cleanliness, purity, and innocence. Women always look lovely in their white wedding gowns, don't they?
Black: Always in style and never out of trend; professional and elegant, makes you appear slimmer, goes with basically any color, great for pants!
Red: Expressive color used a lot in fashion; visible and lively; creates attraction and excitement; use red with other colors in its family, like maroona and pink.
Yellow: Used in casual fashion, creates a fun mood, pair yellow with dark colors to creat a youthful look.
Blue: Color worn by most, soothing and relaxing; good choice for daytime wear; match with white for a sporty look.
Pink: Very feminine, pleasent to the eyes, attracts men's attention when worn by women, add a touch of pink to a black dress, such as a hot pink purse!

My Biggest Tip: Remember your own style, it is what you will feel the most comfortable in and attractive! Enjoy!

Their homepage caught my attention; it has a complete list of famous designers who are in the fashion scene right now, straight from Paris- the fashion capital of the world! When you click on a designer it takes you to a slideshow of the lastest Run-way Shows! The upclose photographs are just like standing in the front row! I know there are a few people in our class that are in the Greek System here at UD. The other day I was in Unique Impressions, which is a store located on North College Ave. that dedicates its product line to Greek paraphernalia. They also do embroidery and screen printing for anyone! So this post is a little lesson about the fashion of Greek life. I am not saying at all that girls/guys in the Greek system are more fashionable! Believe it or not our t-shirts we wear with our Greek Letters on them are always keeping up with style trends and colors of the season!

Do and Don'ts for Greek Letters:

Do Polka Dot Fabric: Looks great and simple on any colored shirt.

Do Sparkle Fabrics: Unique has tons of fabric with sparkles added-in to add some character and style to plain letters.

Don't use Floral and Plaid fabrics: I can't believe Unique even has this stuff!

Don't use Disney fabric: Enough said, we are in college!

Do pick Bright Colored Shirts: Bright colors make Greek Life stand out!

Great Monday Trip to the Christiana Mall

After Info Tech class today, I decided to go to the Christiana Mall to return a few things that I had bought before the semester started and never wore. I had bought a pair of Guess Jeans from Macys, which I thought would fit when I got home, but they really didn't, so I returned them. I also had bought a white v-neck shirt with beads on it from Express, but it was too shear, so I returned that also. Come to find out, everything in Express is ON SALE! Tons of tanks are all 50% off. Of course I had a buy a few!
However the best part of my shopping trip was GAUCHOS! (This link is to Wikipedia... if you scroll down past all the stuff about a Gaucho being a South American Cattle Hearder, you will come to modern influences! I swear!) It is one of this seasons top trends and by my predictions will continue into cooler weather because they come in full-length too!

The best part of my day began with me finding a pair of black cropped Gauchos in Macy's made by XOXO for 40 bucks! I decided I would look around in other stores first to shop around. Amazingly! I found Gauchos in RAVE. Now I know everyone is saying, woah, RAVE isn't good quality, but the Gauchos in there were very much the same as the ones in Macy's... except of course for the price! Are you ready for this!? The cropped Gauchos were $19.99 with $5 off! The full-length ones were $19.99! RAVE even had a few better colors such as teal and hot pink!

In conclusion... I think Gauchos are a great asset to any closet these days because they can be dressed up with a pair of shiny heels for the bar or worn to class with a ribbed tank and flip flops! The best part is, I was so excited about this fashion find that I blogged twice this week so far and it's only Monday! Wouldn't Prof. Brown be sooo proud?

Things to Wear from Past Seasons:

Boho: Layer your tiered skirts with a cropped jean jacket for cooler weather.

Shrugs: Layer shrugs and tie-front ballet tops over long camisoles and sheer tops. Pair with denim or cropped pants.

Chunky, ethnic jewelry: Mixes great with fall's teals and browns.

Metallic Shoes and Bags: Still hot!

You might ask why I would ever pick fashion for my blog. I wouldn't say that I am the biggest fashion oriented person in the world, my one roommate definetly tops me, with her wall of purses!
My love of fashion does have some background. Last year I was looking for a job and of course went straight to the Christiana Mall, swearing off having to get another horrible waitressing job. I ended up landing a job at Express! And from that moment on I was hooked on fashion. My goal as a sales associate was to sell the new trendy clothes that the Express Design Studio created each season to every single customer in the store. After working 20 hours a week, I was beginning to sell myself the styles and couldn't stay away since! By working at Express I knew the fashion details before anyone else on campus and had new styles even before they were placed on the sales floor. The bad part of this addiction is the prices! My Express credit card really shows the damage! This leads me to one of my goals for this blog is to try and offer you guys some good style tips with some cheaper prices! In the end I had to create a themed-blog for my Information Technology Marketing class...Info Tech Marketing Blog where my teacher incorporated our class assignments into a blog about the class. Pretty cool, I think!
